Top Philanthropic Donors: Robert and Dorothy King
Mr. King, a Stanford business school alumnus, is largely unknown outside start-ups and venture capitalists, but has built a fortune out of R. Eliot King & Company and Peninsula Capital, which was one of the first investors in Baidu, the Chinese version of Google.
Mr. King, 76, and his wife, Dorothy, 75, gave $154.5 million to Stanford University to establish the Stanford Institute for Innovation in Developing Economies (SEED), a center at the Graduate School of Business, where scholars and others will research entrepreneurship practices and go on to teach people how to apply the findings to help alleviate poverty in developing countries. Mr. King earned a master’s degree from the business school in 1960.
Of the total, the Kings stipulated that $102.5-million be used to start the institute and $50-million will should go toward attracting and matching donations for the institute and other university programs. The remaining $2-million will go toward scholarships, with priority given to low-income students from developing countries.
The couple said the idea for the gift came about after more than 40 years of housing international students, in their home, who had come to the United States to attend Stanford. One such student, Andreata Muforo, who came to Stanford from Zimbabwe, invited peers from a study trip she took to Africa to dine at the Kings’ home.
The Kings also gave a total of $12 million to other nonprofits, including Dartmouth College; Fuller Theological Seminary, in Pasadena, Calif.; the Kennebunkport Conservation Trust, in Cape Porpoise, Me.; and the University of Wisconsin at Madison, Mrs. King’s alma mater.
Some of that money was also directed toward the Thrive Foundation for Youth, a Menlo Park, CA., charity the couple started in 1995. The foundation supports and works with nonprofits and social scientists to promote research and programs that help parents, teachers, and mentors improve their skills in working with needy youths.
Let Sunset Coupons help you with your fundraising somewhat smaller fundraising projects for your school group, church, charity, team or non-profit. To finds out more about Sunset Coupons please call 800-627-6340.

Are You New To Fundraising?
Let me guess, you were at a meeting for your child’s sports team (or any fundraising group) and the need for new blood in the fundraising side of the group came up. Somehow you found you were the only one with her arm up volunteering to help and the next thing you knew you were the head of the groups fundraising for this coming season.
As soon as you got home you jumped on the Internet looking for help and found you were overwhelmed by all the different ways to fundraise. But, the scary side is that some tales were about buying items to sell and spending more than you raised.
Then you read how the economy is still very unstable and many regular donors have had to cut back.
First take a deep breath and relax a bit. You can do this. But, it will take a bit more work than you may have hoped. You will find the need to go after more than one source of money and in more than one way.
Donors are important and you can consider your group as a whole for part of the funds needed. An email out to your group telling the story of your needs for the coming season or year should get some funds flowing. Your group does have an email list, right? If not get it started as soon as possible. Asking for an email address at sign-up and the first set of games or events.
When it comes to selling items to your group and other community members look for an item that has no chance of spoilage or melting. Find an item that has great value to the buyer. If possible find one that has no upfront cost. If that sounds too good to be true take a look at Sunset Coupon Books.
Sunset Coupon Books contain hundreds of dollars in savings from local merchants. The savings enjoyed from using just one or two coupons will pay for the book. And who doesn’t need to save money these days?
Sunset Coupon Books are small enough to fit in a pocket or purse yet contain over 40 family-friendly coupons such as 2 for 1 Meals, and Attractions like Bowling, Mini-Golf, Skating, etc; a combined value of over $400 in savings.
Coupon Books sell for only $10 each. You pay $5 for them so you make $5 for yourself for a full 100% profit.
Local coupon book editions are available in Phoenix, Tempe / Mesa, Tucson and Salt Lake City.
No Up Front Cost Sunset Coupons will consign books to bonafide established organizations. Call to see how your group can begin raising money with no out of pocket expense.
If you are new to group fundraising and looking for a high dollar return, simple and easy fundraiser? Then call Sunset Coupons at 800-627-6340 and let us show you how we can help your group reach its goals, time after time and year after year.

It’s Time For A Yard Sale Fundraiser
Check with your city to find out if you need to have a permit to hold a garage sale. Ask if there are regulations concerning when and where you can place signs to advertise your garage sale.
Announce the sale to your group. Tell them when and where it will be held and when and where to drop off donations. Decide on whether items will be priced by the person donating them or by the organizers. Designate a person in charge of receiving the donations.
Plan your advertising well in advance in order to put classified ads in your local newspapers. Send press releases to your local newspaper and radio stations. Place flyers in public places such as grocery stores, libraries, bookstores, schools, and churches. The night before the sale place posters and signs on the street advertising your sale.
Pricing garage sale items. Round numbers will make pricing and selling much easier. You can buy pre-made pricing stickers at office supply stores or make your own on a printer. Generally speaking, items in good shape should be priced at one-third of their retail price. Of course there will be exceptions. For example, you might want to price hard cover books at $2.00 a piece no matter what the retail price was. Or, you may want to price CD's, DVD's, and tapes at $2.00 each. You should group like items together during the sale. Sell them all for the same price unless otherwise marked.
Have as many volunteers on hand as possible. You will need people to help the shoppers and to keep things running smoothly. You'll need people to take the money and provide security. You may want to offer to deliver items if your group has access to a willing person with a truck.
At your checkout table have plastic bags, boxes, scissors, a yard stick, measuring tape, and wrapping supplies such as newspapers and tape. Make sure that you have access to electricity so shoppers can test items. Display valuable items such as jewelry at the check-out table in order keep them from being stolen. You can use a cash box or fanny pack to hold the money.
Let your shoppers know that your yard sale is a fundraiser. Make sure your signs say what you are raising money for. You may want to make a display board at your check-out table the gives information about your organization and cause. Have your volunteers wear your club's t-shirts or uniforms, if you have them, so shoppers will know who is working at the sale.
Always have a donation jar at your check-out table to collect donations.

Honoring Our Fallen Service Members
Memorial Day is a United States federal holiday which occurs every year on the final Monday of May. Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.
Formerly known as Decoration Day, it originated after the American Civil War to commemorate the Union and Confederate soldiers who died in the Civil War. By the 20th century, Memorial Day had been extended to honor all Americans who have died while in the military service.
Memorial Day typically marks the start of the summer vacation season, with Labor Day marking the end of the summer vacation season.
Many people visit cemeteries and memorials, particularly to honor those who have died in military service. Many volunteers place an American flag on each grave in national cemeteries.
Annual Decoration Days for particular cemeteries are held on a Sunday in late spring or early summer in some rural areas of the American South, notably in the mountains. In cases involving a family graveyard where remote ancestors as well as those who were deceased more recently are buried, this may take on the character of an extended family reunion to which some people travel hundreds of miles. People gather on the designated day and put flowers on graves and renew contacts with kinfolk and others.
There often is a religious service and a "dinner on the ground," the traditional term for a potluck meal in which people used to spread the dishes out on sheets or tablecloths on the grass. It is believed that this practice began before the American Civil War and thus may reflect the real origin of the "memorial day" idea.
Memorial Day is not to be confused with Veterans Day; Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving, while Veterans Day celebrates the service of all U.S. military veterans.
We know at this time of year you are looking for a good dollar return, simple and easy fundraisers. Please call Sunset Coupons at 800-627-6340 and see how we can help your group reach its goals, time after time and year after year.

Top Philanthropic Donors: Margaret Cargill
Margaret Anne Cargill, who passed away in 2006 was an American philanthropist and heiress to part of the Cargill fortune.
Cargill was born 24 September 1920, in Los Angeles, the granddaughter of W. W. Cargill, and grew up in the Midwest. She earned a degree in arts education from the University of Minnesota and moved to Southern California. She died from complications of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease on 1 August 2006 at her home in La Jolla, San Diego, California.
Cargill was one of eight heirs to the Minneapolis based grain-trading conglomerate Cargill. The business was established by her grandfather, William Wallace Cargill, in 1865 and has grown to become one of the largest private companies, with interests in agricultural commodities, food production, and financial and industrial products and services. Forbes Magazine listed her in 2005 as the 164th richest American, with a net worth of $1.8 billion. She was a major donor to the American Red Cross, the Nature Conservancy, the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of the American Indian and the American Swedish Institute.
She gave away more than $200 million, most of it in the period between 1990 and her death in 2006, and always anonymously. She established the Anne Ray Charitable Trust which provides grants for charitable and educational programs and scholarships. She provided that, after her death, the Margaret A. Cargill Foundation would use her wealth (Cargill stock) for charitable purposes. In 2011 her assets were finally liquidated, forming a $6 billion dollar donation to the Anne Ray Charitable Trust and the Margaret A. Cargill Foundation, in Eden Prairie, MN.
The Margaret A. Cargill Foundation, established with this bequest, will support a wider array of causes, such as animal welfare; arts and culture; care for the elderly, children, and their families; the environment; and other causes.
Those who knew Ms. Cargill describe her as a quiet donor who loathed public recognition for her largess.
At Sunset Coupons we want to help you make your next fundraiser easier and more successful. Give us a call at 602-279-0404 to find out how we can help your group.

How to Arrange A Profitable Raffle
A raffle can be a great fundraiser as your next project. The old saying of “Buy Low – Sell High” is the most important aspect of the profitability of a raffle. The best possibility is to arrange with businesses to have them donate what will be your raffle items. This will involve many phone calls to arrange for these donations.
Unless you can get the prize donated, you will have an up front investment, but if you choose a very desirable prize you can double or triple your investment.
The key to a good raffle is to select a prize that is in high demand and most importantly expose a large number of people to the opportunity to buy your group’s tickets.
1. You must sell a large number of tickets
2. you must have a great prize.
3. You need a lot of people to buy tickets. If you are only going to try to sell tickets to a small number of people, offer a less expensive prize because you may not recoup all the money otherwise.
If you can get a prize donated, then all of your ticket sales will go to profit; but, if the prize is not something people want, then you will not sell as many tickets. Having a great prize is really the key to a successful raffle.
The ideal prize is something that most people want but few people own. Carefully consider who you will be selling tickets to and what they would take a gamble on.
For most prizes, you should sell tickets for a dollar a piece and six for five dollars. Some will argue that you don't want to fool with six for five, but people buy more tickets when they feel like they are getting a bargain. More people will buy five or 10 dollars worth of tickets when you offer the extra one.
If you don’t want the risk of a failed raffle, consider Sunset Coupon Books in the Phoenix, Tempe / Mesa, Tucson Arizona or Salt Lake City Utah areas.

Help To Avoid Fundraising Scams
The outpouring of support and generosity of the American public in the aftermath of natural disasters like the tornados in Oklahoma speaks to both our compassion and resilience as a country. But unfortunately, as we’ve seen previously, high profile news stories and tragedies can also lead to a variety of Internet scams and online risks.
Oklahoma’s devastating tornados in May 2013 resulted in massive relief efforts for the stricken population. It also resulted in a number of bogus charities that used the disaster to collect money that went straight into the scammers’ pockets, as did tornados in other southern states.
In addition, a number of states cracked down on commercial telemarketing operations that misled consumers about the money they were collecting, supposedly for a charitable cause. In many cases, officials charged that none, or only a small percentage, actually went to the groups being represented.
Beware of newly created websites and twitter accounts may try to take advantage of those looking to contribute to fundraising efforts. Others could target individuals interested in simply learning more details about the incident. For example, emails that appear as if they have been sent from a legitimate news or charitable organization may in fact be phishing attempts.
Here are a few ways you can protect yourself from online scams and phishing techniques:
Only donate money to known and credible fundraising charities.

Exercise caution when clicking on email links or interacting with social media accounts that claim to represent the best interests of those involved in this incident.

The Key Elements to Successful Fundraising
The first key element to a successful fundraising campaign is perhaps the most indispensable. You have to be able to communicate the “why” you are raising money to begin with. Many times your “why” is taken for granted, by clearly defining the reason for the fundraiser, greater results will be achieved.
The next key element is that it is important to define the reason for your fundraiser besides the broad mission of your group. It is likely that there are multiple reasons that your group has chosen to do a fundraiser at this particular time. It could be that the last fundraising effort was not as great a success as hoped. Maybe your other sources funding has been reduced and new sources of revenue are needed. Possibly you are embarking on a tour, building project or a new outreach service.
Whatever has motivated the need for your fundraiser, it is important to define what the proceeds of the fundraiser will be used for. If the proceeds benefit a particular fund or purpose it is important that this is understood by both your group and potential donors or buyers as it will affect their desire to help.
One of the first questions people ask when approached to make a donation is “what does the money go for?” You should have a ready answer for this question. With the increasing number of causes pleading for support, people have to make choices about where they make charitable contributions. They want to make sure they place their gift with an organization that match their own priorities.
By knowing and communicating your organization’s mission, and stating the purpose of the fundraiser, you help create trust. The donor will be reassured that donations will go to good use.
In general there are three types of fundraisers; sales, events and direct solicitations. Each one has advantages and disadvantages. The most repeatable and the one with the least amount of lead time is sales of items.
Different types of sales items has advantages and disadvantages. Consider the following questions; How perishable is the item you are offering for sale. How responsible for health or the environment is the item you are offering for sale. Will you have to buy a set amount and do you have to pay for the item in advance.
If you decide on sales please consider the advantage of Sunset Coupon Books.
We don’t want you to forget that Sunset Coupon Books are always a great fundraising idea no matter the season and you can find out more with a quick and simple phone call.

Top Philanthropic Donors: John and Julie Mork
John Mork, 63, is chief executive of Denver-based Energy Corporation of America. He and his wife own 71% of the privately held company, focused mostly on developing natural gas reserves in the Appalachian basin, especially West Virginia. Mr. Mork, in a phone interview made no bones about his desire to keep well off the radar. “Submerged whales don’t get harpooned,” he said.
ECA is a pretty big player in the fast-growing Marcellus shale gas field that stretches from New York down through Pennsylvania and West Virginia. According to registration documents filed with the Securities Exchange Commission for the recent IPO of a royalty trust tied to ECA’s West Virginia gas fields, ECA operates some 5,100 wells in Appalachia and holds leases on 1 million acres. It also owns and operates 5,000 miles of pipelines across the region. ECA’s production in 2009 was 62 million cubic feet of gas per day; annual revenues are on the order of $200 million, with net income of $20 million.
Mr. and Mrs. Mork, pledged $110 million to the University of Southern California, in Los Angeles, to support merit scholarships. A payment schedule was not available. Mr. Mork, who has served on the university’s Board of Trustees since 2006, earned a bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering from the university in 1970. The couple’s daughter, Alison, and son, Kyle, are also university alumni. In 2006, the Morks gave the university $15 million.
Through the 1980s and 1990s, Mork drilled more wells and acquired a handful of companies like West Virginia gas utility Mountaineer Gas and Westech International, which has oil and gas prospects in New Zealand.
The focus of Mork’s philanthropy, like the $110 million earmarked for USC scholarships, is education. He also donates to early childhood education and to programs seeking novel ways to prevent recidivism among drug felons and to help cure attention-deficit disorder in youngsters.
Mork is a classic American rags-to-riches story, and an exemplar of the fading American ethos that the best place to find success is in hard work and humility.
Let Sunset Coupons help you with your fundraising somewhat smaller fundraising projects for your school group, church, charity, team or non-profit. To finds out more about Sunset Coupons please call 800-627-6340.

What You Wear Will Affect Your Fundraiser
What is the right clothing to wear at a sports group fundraising event is a question we hear frequently. We all know that what you wear and your grooming affect people’s perception of you. In a fundraiser that perception can determine whether you can make a sale or get a donation.
If you are a “ball” team raising money for new uniforms you could have a member in your old uniform and another wearing the new version. That contrast can make a great show and tell when presenting your case to your buyer or donor.
If, on the other hand, you are raising funds to go to a playoff tournament having all of your members in uniform will present a better image. If you have pennants or winning banners put those on display as well.
An great animated acting team mascot can be used to gain attention and even provide humor to your fundraising event. If you can bring a smile to your donors face you can almost always expect at least some form of purchase or donation.
If you can place the adults into matching T-shirts or uniform tops that can also affect the perception of your team or group. Every little bit can help when it comes to sales. While we cheer for the underdog we tend to support a winner or a team that looks like a winner, when it comes to donations.
Never underestimate the power of “cute”. If your team mascot is a cute toddler that is dressed up as a cheerleader or team member they can create a lot of attention or buzz. If they can hold a donation jar or at least ask for the donation or sale they can be a great asset.
What you wear is all about trust and credibility. Our basic instincts tell us who and what to trust is based on what we see more than any other sense. And trust “what the person is wearing” is a real, if unconscious part of our decision making.
You would never think of going into your bank asking for a loan wearing jail house stripes. There is a reason the pilot of an airliner always dresses to look like one. So for your next fundraising event remember to dress like you deserve the sale or donation.
At Sunset Coupons we want to help you make your next fundraiser easier and more successful. Give us a call at 602-279-0404 to find out how we can help your group.

Try Different Fundraising Ideas
Did you know that the famous quote, "Insanity is repeating the same mistakes and expecting different results" appears in the Basic Text of Narcotics Anonymous which was copyrighted in 1982 and later published in 1983. Many people think that the quote "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results." Is by Albert Einstein, but there is no proof of that in his published works.
We bring that up here because many groups raise funds the same way every year and generally have declining results. Yet, they try year after year and expect different results.
Adults tend to get hung up on tradition, They think, Well, I sold cookies when I was a kid. That’s what we should do. Selling candy, magazine subscriptions and gift certificates has long been a staple in schools. But with state and federal funding cuts, some schools and booster clubs are turning to more creative and different ways to raise money.
In today's economy, families would rather buy things they need instead of things they don't want or have a belief against… like sweets.
Have you considered Sunset Coupon Books? If you are in the Phoenix Metro area, Tucson or Salt Lake City you should. There are many great reasons to use Sunset Coupon Books.
Sunset Coupon Books contain hundreds of dollars in savings from local merchants. The savings enjoyed from using just one or two coupons will pay for the book. And who doesn’t need to save money these days?

Fundraising Ideas For Your Church
If your church is like most churches the need for funds is ever present and on going. The need for funds always exceeds the funds available.
So what can you try to raise funds for your church?
Many churches raise funds quite successfully through collecting donations. There are many different fun and unique ways to do this beyond simply asking for donations, including fundraising activities and events. For major donations, you can also have some success through letter writing, which not only helps with your fundraising, but also helps spread the word about your church’s mission and needs.
Chocolate fundraisers are by all types of different groups. Many churches use them because often all you have to do is put out a display box every Sunday (and every other time there is a gathering at your church), and put a cash box or jar next to it.
A great idea is to sell them at a “suggested donation amount”. For example, if you’re selling dollar bars, you can put out your chocolate with a sign that reads, “Help support our church. Donate a minimum of $1 to our fund and get a candy bar!”
If however, for health reasons, you are looking for a popular and fun alternative to cookies, cakes and candies consider Sunset Coupon Books.

Celebrating Moms, They Make Fundraising Possible
Yes, men are also involved in fundraising but the facts are that most fundraising is done by the females, the Moms that make up the best part of most families.
Did you know…
Mother's Day recognizes mothers, motherhood and maternal bonds in general, as well the positive contributions that they make to society. Although many Mother's Day celebrations world-wide have quite different origins and traditions, most have now been influenced by the more recent American tradition established by Anna Jarvis, who celebrated it for the first time in 1908, then campaigned to make it an official holiday. Previous attempts at establishing Mother's Day in the United States sought to promote peace by means of honoring mothers who had lost or were at risk of losing their sons to war.
In its present form, Mother's Day was established by Anna Jarvis with the help of Philadelphia merchant John Wanamaker following the death of her mother Ann Jarvis on May 9, 1905. A small service was held on May 12, 1907 in the Andrew's Methodist Episcopal Church in Grafton, West Virginia where Anna's mother had been teaching Sunday school. But the first "official" service was on May 10, 1908 in the same church, accompanied by a larger ceremony in the Wanamaker Auditorium in the Wanamaker's store on Philadelphia. The next year the day was reported to be widely celebrated in New York.
Jarvis then campaigned to establish Mother's Day first as a U.S. national holiday and then later as an international holiday. The holiday was declared officially by the state of West Virginia in 1910, and the rest of the states followed quickly. On May 8, 1914, the U.S. Congress passed a law designating the second Sunday in May as Mother's Day and requesting a proclamation. On May 9, 1914 President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation declaring the first national Mother's Day as a day for American citizens to show the flag in honor of those mothers whose sons had died in war.
In 1934, U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt approved a stamp commemorating the holiday.
In May 2008 the U.S. House of Representatives voted twice on a resolution commemorating Mother's Day, the first one being unanimous (with 21 members not voting). The Grafton's church, where the first celebration was held, is now the International Mother's Day Shrine and is a National Historic Landmark.

Healthy Fundraising Choices
These days, we all want to make healthier choices. That can be true for fundraising too.
One way to make healthier fundraising choices is with products other than food. A real great one is the quick and easy Sunset Coupon Books program fundraiser.
Sunset Coupon Books contain hundreds of dollars in savings from local merchants. The savings enjoyed from using just one or two coupons will pay for the book. And who doesn’t need to save money these days?
Research clearly demonstrates that good nutrition is linked to better behavior and academic performance. To provide the best possible learning environment for children, schools must also provide an environment that supports healthy behaviors.
Selling unhealthy foods provides a message that schools care more about making money than student health. We would never think of raising money with anything else that increases student health risks, but food fundraisers are often overlooked. As schools promote healthy lifestyle choices to reduce student health risks and improve learning, school fundraisers must be included.
Foods commonly used as fundraisers (like chocolate, candy, soda and baked goods) provide unneeded calories and displace healthier food choices. Skyrocketing obesity rates among children are resulting in serious health consequences, such as increased incidence of type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure.
Students need to receive consistent, reliable health information and ample opportunity to use it. Finding healthy alternatives to fund-raising is an important part of providing a healthy school environment.
Fundraising with non-food items demonstrates a school commitment to promoting healthy behaviors. It supports the classroom lessons students are learning about health, instead of contradicting them.
Sunset Coupon Books sell for only $10 each. You pay $5 for them so you make $5 for yourself for a full 100% profit.
Local coupon book editions of Sunset Coupon Books are available in Phoenix, Tempe / Mesa, Tucson and Salt Lake City.
Need a more focused and timely fundraising opportunity. Call Sunset Coupons and see how we can help your organizations fundraising efforts.

Choosing The Right Fundraiser
So you have somehow ended up as the fundraising volunteer for your School, Sports Team, Youth Group, Church or Non-profit. Let me guess you have never done this before but no one else volunteered and you were the one that decided you could work this into your already too busy life.
Your group raises funds by selling something at your events and friendly store locations. So what are you gonna sell?
Well you could have a bake sale. Then you need to find more volunteers to bake cookies, donuts, cakes and pies. So do you have time to bake these things? Do the other moms have time to bake. You can’t make money by buying store bought cookies and trying to re-sell them.
You could work with a company that sells chocolate bars. The upside is the products are ready to go. BUT how much do you need to raise? At just 0.50 cents per candy bar you will sure need to sell a lot of them and you are going to have to buy them up front. How much can you afford to risk? Have you noticed that people are more and more trying to live a healthy lifestyle and a big chocolate bar isn’t something they are looking to buy.
What product are you going to pick? There are sure a lot of them… calendars, pop-corn, gift-wrap, pizza (yes, pizza), car polish, coffee, and so many more. What do you do with the ones you can’t sell?
You should consider Sunset Coupon Books. They feature hundreds of dollars in savings from local merchants.

Top Philanthropic Donors: David and Dana Dornsife
Mr. Dornsife is chairman of the Herrick Corporation, a steel-manufacturing company in Stockton, California.
Mr. Dornsife, 67, and his wife, Dana, 49, pledged $200 million dollars to the University of Southern California, in Los Angeles, to support the College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences, which was then named for the Dornsifes. The couple declined to disclose how much of the pledged amount was paid in 2011.
The donation is unrestricted, but university officials said they plan to direct the money toward financial aid, faculty recruitment, and a scholarship program for students who plan to focus their work after graduating on trying to solve social challenges. The couple said the recession played a part in their decision to give the gift because, “in general things have been difficult for higher education over the past couple of years, and we felt that we needed to step up and show that that could be changed,” wrote Mr. Dornsife in an e-mail to The Chronicle.
Mr. Dornsife graduated from the university in 1965 with a bachelor’s degree in business and serves on the institution’s Board of Trustees.
Together the Dornsifes served as members of the Steering Committee for the Tradition & Innovation fundraising initiative in the College. In 2009, their lead gift to USC and USC College’s neuroscience program provided support for the construction of a new Brain and Creativity Institute Building.
Through the Hedco Foundation, the Dornsife family legacy helped create the Hedco Neurosciences Building, the Hedco Auditorium, and the Hedco Petroleum and Chemical Molecular Biology Laboratories.
David Dornsife’s parents, Harold and Ester, were USC alumni and longtime supporters of their alma mater. The elder Dornsifes gave the lead gift for the Hedco Neuroscience Building, which helped establish USC’s position as a pioneering and important leader in the emerging field of neuroscience.
Let Sunset Coupons help you with your fundraising somewhat smaller fundraising projects for your school group, church, charity, team or non-profit. To finds out more about Sunset Coupons please call 800-627-6340.

What Is Your Groups Fundraising Age Target
Did you know that your type of group and the items you sell may be more likely to sell to certain ages groups more than others?
Did you know that an older female is more likely to be a buyer or to make a donation? That doesn’t mean that a single twenty-something male will never make a purchase or donation. But, he is less likely to be a buyer.
You never want to pre-judge your buyers and not approach based on the likelihood to purchase. Many factors enter into the “purchase” mix. If your “seller” is a young attractive female the twenty-something male will usually stop and at least talk with her. The ability to start a conversation is the very first step to making a sale.
A recent study found that age groups have an average charitable giving that shows age related patterns. Mature givers, on average, $1066 per year to 6.3 charities, while Boomers give $901 per year to 5.2 charities. Gen X gives $796 on average to 4.2 charities, and Gen Y gives $341 to 3.6 charities. Their average annual income is also ranked from high to low in that same pattern. So the annual income may be the prime reason rather than just age related motivations.
Furthermore, when the estimated population of each generation is considered, Matures represent just 21% of total donors and 28% of actual contributions. It pays for any charity to appeal to as many kinds of donors as possible.
Having a personal connection to a cause or an organization plays an integral part in why a donor gives. A little over one fifth (21%) of responding donors supported an organization because a loved one or themselves had been personally affected. In a time when more and more families and individuals are in need of support and assistance, it’s important for nonprofits to reach out to those who they have once served and/or continue to serve and incite them to give.
Part of what makes Sunset Coupon Books is that there are coupons from entertainment and food vendors that will be interesting to many different demographics. When approaching different age groups you can show them coupons that would be more relevant to their age group. This ends up with a greater “yes” rate than not showing coupons to your potential buyers.
