Phoenix Fundraising Tips and Tricks

In many areas of the country summer is a time that many outdoor fundraisers are done.  In the Phoenix Metro area, also called the Valley of the Sun our daytime temperatures run from 105 to 120 degrees plus.

When you have days with temperatures running over 110 degrees Fahrenheit just puts a damper on outdoor activities like lemonade stands and the like.

Here are some examples to try.

Organize Band and choir concerts: Ask your school band or choir to donate their time by performing a benefit concert for your cause. Charge admission for the event.

Hold a Swim-a-thon: Get sponsors for the number of laps you swim.

Do a Bowl-a-thon: Organize a bowling night or a competition. Charge everyone a small fee to enter or have participants get bowl-a-thon pledges.

Hold a Hug-a-thon: Advertise a hug for a dollar. Have people buy a hug for a friend. After a member of your group gives the hug to the designated person, give them a small card with a message from the person who sent the hug.

Use Sunset Coupon Books: Easily raise money for your School, Sports Team, Youth Group, Church or Non-profit.

Each book contain hundreds of dollars in savings from local merchants. The savings enjoyed from using just one or two coupons will pay for the book. And who doesn’t need to save money these days?

Top Philanthropic Donors: Raymond and Ruth Perelman

Since 1992, Raymond Perelman has been President and Chairman of the Board of RGP Holdings, Inc., a privately held holding company comprised of a vast array of manufacturing, mining and financial interests. Mr. Perelman serves as a PENN Medicine Trustee, and is a 1940 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business.

Mr. and Mrs. Perelman are Trustees of the Raymond and Ruth Perelman Education Foundation, Inc., which supports Jewish cultural and welfare organizations, as well as arts and history museums and other cultural institutions. The Perelmans are parents to Jeffrey E. and Ronald O. Perelman, who also have distinguished careers in both business and philanthropy, and close ties to the city of Philadelphia and University of Pennsylvania.

Mr. Perelman, 94, and his wife, Ruth, who was 90 when she died last summer, pledged $225 million to the University of Pennsylvania to endow the Raymond and Ruth Perelman School of Medicine. The Perelmans placed no restrictions on how the money should be used. University officials have said they plan to hire more medical researchers and faculty members and increase financial aid for medical students.

Mr. Perelman serves on the medical school’s Board of Trustees and graduated from the university’s Wharton School in 1940. The couple, who announced this pledge several months before Mrs. Perelman died, gave the university $25 million in 2005 for the Ruth and Raymond Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine. Mr. Perelman said he and his wife began learning more about the health-care system and the needs of the medical profession after they gave the 2005 donation. He told The Chronicle that the couple decided to pledge the $225 million to the medical school because of their concerns about the American health-care system and the demands of the new law to overhaul it.

The couple also pledged nearly $1.3 million to the National Museum of American Jewish History for the Philadelphia institution’s new building. Mr. Perelman serves as a museum trustee. In addition, they pledged $600,000, of which $100,000 has been paid, to the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, in Miami; and they gave $100,000 to each of four nonprofits: American Friends of Israel Museum, in New York; Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia, Perelman Jewish Day School, in Wynnewood, Pa.; and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The Perelmans also gave $50,000 to the Cleveland Clinic.

Fundraising Ideas From Sunset Coupon Books

Summer is a favorite time of the year for most people, and it stands to reason that your summer fundraising campaign should incorporate some of the fun and warmth that this season represents. Think about combining summer activities with Sunset Coupon Books fundraising efforts to increased success.

Holding a Sunset Coupon Books fundraising campaign is a great way to raise money for your group or sports team. However, if you don’t have the right strategy in the planning, organizing and event stages of your fundraiser, then you won’t raise as much money as you could have. In order for your sports team fundraiser to be as successful as possible, it is important that you have a good strategy in all aspects of the fundraiser.

Unfortunately, many people involved in fundraisers simply give themselves too many responsibilities to handle. Even when people do get other people to volunteer, they generally don’t delegate enough tasks to other people. As na organizer, you will likely lead a busy lifestyle, so the more people helping out with the fundraiser, the more you can give people, including yourself, small tasks, which are quicker to complete, and don’t take up too much of your time.

Easily raise money for your School, Sports Team, Youth Group, Church or Non-profit.

Fundraising Ideas You Don’t Know About!

Often, the most challenging part of fundraising is coming up with a new idea that will help motivate your group. If you are tired of brainstorming sessions that just bring up ideas that are ones you have tried and tried again here are some ideas that may be brand new to you.

Actors – Ask your thespian-oriented friends to improvise for a "play party". Invite all of your friends, serve hors d'oeuvres and ask for a suggested donation at the door.

Coins – Go to your local mall or shopping center and ask what they do with the coins in the fountain.

Cook Off – Solicit local celebrities to enter their best dishes and have people pay to vote on the winners.

Balloon Raffle – Sell balloons for $10 each and insert a number in each that corresponds to a raffle ticket given to the purchaser. Pop a balloon for each available prize and read off the winning number.

Donate Gold
– Participants ask friends and family to donate old jewelry they no longer wear and turn the gold in for cash.

For the Birds – Deliver a flock of fake pink flamingos to a donor’s yard and leave a note explaining the cause and asking for a donation to “replant” the flamingos in the yard of the next “victim” the first donor designates.  Pick your targets carefully.

Give it Up – Sponsors commit to give up a regular activity for a month and donate the money they save to the designated cause.

Lunch Room – Put up a display in the lunch room at work (a sign with your picture and a note about what you are doing); be sure to include a jar for donations and a stack of your donation slips.

Pump Them Up – Coordinate with a local gas station to have volunteers serve as helpers who check tires for proper inflation (to save gas) for a donation.

Skip a Meal – Sponsors commit to giving up a meal together and give the money saved to the designated cause.

Smoothie Stand – A healthy and yummy twist on the tired old lemonade stand.

Sunset Coupon Books – Selling them is a great value (more than $400 for just $10) and easy to do.

If you are looking for a high value fundraiser call Sunset Coupons at 602-279-0404 and see how we can help your group reach its goal.

June in Phoenix, Time to Move Fundraising Indoors

As you know last weekend had our afternoon temps running at or above 110 degrees.  Nobody wants to be outside trying to raise funds for their group when it is that hot.  Your potential customers or donors don’t want to stop and talk when it is that hot.

But, you still need to raise funds.  It is time to move indoors.  Where is the question.

A store that has a good sized entrance area can work well.  Getting permission is just a matter of asking.  You may get more “Nos” when asking about moving indoors, but if you don’t ask you will never know.

If possible have a good photo of what your indoor set-up looks like.  Of course you want to make your table look nice.  Nice signage and a skirt on the table edge.

Places to consider;

Indoor swap marts… they may have upfront space, which is the best, but they tend to have some unused spaces or booths they would donate.  Make sure you have an acknowledgement / thank you letter.

Waterparks / zoos / aquariums / entertainment centers / indoor raceways… they have lobbies and spaces related to gift centers

Depending on your group you might be able to consider a local library as a place that “might” consider your group

Grocery Stores

Of course we would like you to consider using Sunset Coupons to help you raise funds.  Sunset Coupon Books contain hundreds of dollars in savings from local merchants. The savings enjoyed from using just one or two coupons will pay for the book. And who doesn’t need to save money these days?

Sunset Coupon Books are small enough to fit in a pocket or purse yet contain over 40 family-friendly coupons such as 2 for 1 Meals, and Attractions like Bowling, Mini-Golf, Skating, etc; a combined value of over $400 in savings.  Coupon Books sell for only $10 each.
