It won’t be long and the signs of Fall will be here.  In the southwest desert area that doesn’t mean we expect the trees to change to a riot of color.  For the Valley of the Sun and the Phoenix Metro area it means that afternoon temps might be just below 100°.  If you get up around sunrise it might be in the low 70s.

Summer hangs on, with warm-to-hot days but cooling nights. In the higher elevations, around Flagstaff and the Mogollon Rim it can freeze and most likely snow. Some years might see unseasonable heavy rains during October, although this is uncommon.
