1 – 2 – 3 Fundraising

Here is a simple three step list of things to do when you start fundraising for your organization.

First Create a List

Create a list of friends, family, co-workers, church members, business contacts, exercise buddies, hobby contacts and people you meet at the dog park.

Work creatively on your list. Do you have neighbors, doctors, your local mechanic, anyone you know that might support your cause or charity?

Remember, it never hurt to asks.  Try to build the biggest list you can by including everyone you can think of!  Yes, it does sound a little like AmWay.

Make Your Appeal Personal

People will donate because you are asking them to.  First, you must ask, It is as simple as that.  Does your cause relate to you or the person you are approaching. If it does not, make it relate to one of you.

They will like you and respect the fact that you’re supporting a great cause.

Make It  Face To Face

When you’re fundraising make it a point to ask the friends and family you see on a regular basis to support you by donating.

Dinner parties, soccer games, church, family reunions, etc. They are all great opportunities to make in person asks.

Remember, it’s difficult for people to say “no” if you speak with them in person.

It can make it very easy to have an additional item to put in your quiver of approaches.  If you get a no on a donation, you can always pull out a Sunset Coupons Book and now they get a bonus for a simple “$10” donation.  No pressure and just a $10 amount allows them to still feel good about the support of your cause.
